Human/nature

What is the future of the rainforests and how is it connected to our future as humans?
In the Amazon there is no word for nature, we are not separate but endlessly intertwined.

I see our anatomy and the patterns contained within our bodies reflected all around me in the forest. I am exploring the concept of reconnecting our human forms with nature through imagining a speculative future, where the line between human and plant becomes blurred. Using images of red root systems I captured during my time at Labverde and photographs of my own body, I have been collaborating with artificial Intelligence to create new hybrid plant/human forms.

Human/Nature imagines the moment before our ecosystems collapse. A landscape taken over by root systems that have been pushed into excessive growth by the rising CO2 levels in the earths atmosphere. A speculative future where plants are evolving to mirror human anatomy in a final cry for our empathy.

Can we adjust the current trajectory of the Anthropocene by reawakening a predominately forgotten feeling of ecological intimacy?

Human/Nature is an ongoing project created in response to my time on residency at Labverde in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, funded by the Arts For Environment residency and University Of The Arts London.
